International environmental organizations such as FERN, ClientEarth, Friends of the Earth Europe and the Corporate Europe Observatory have decided to take the European Commission to court. This is due to the EU not releasing documents related to policies on biofuels.

The environmental organizations claim that it is against the EU policy of transparency, which lies at the heart of the European Union itself.

The requested documents refer to the companies that have already asked for European certifications concerning biofuels sustainability. These environmental organizations have voiced their concerns that these policies are not compliant with the European Union´s own standards.
